Buenos Aires, Argentina – April 2007

We arrived in Buenos Aires early in the morning and after checking into the Waldorf hotel, we were whisked away by our tour operator for a sight seeing tour of the city.

We visited the very colourful La Boca area where the poorest of the poor used to live in times gone by. Today it is a tourist attraction with buildings painted in various colours.

La Boca is also famous for its huge soccer stadium.

Our hotel was situated in a side street just off the famous Florida Street.

Various performances can be viewed here day and night; from musicians to tango dancers to mimic artists.

The most beautiful architecture can be seen in many parts of Buenos Aires, but specifically in Florida Street.

No vehicles are allowed on this long street, only pedestrians.

Outside one of the many museums. We read in a travel book that there was a real mummy kept at this one, only to be told that it is against this country’s regulations to display mummies!

St Martin Park is in the centre of Buenos Aires and a very popular place for locals and tourists to take walks or to sit and relax. The trees were full of pink flowers that fell to the ground to form a thick carpet.

Included in our trip was a tango show with traditional dinner.

Here is the view from the restaurant’s balcony.

The Argentinians are very friendly people and we made many aquaintances wherever we went.
